Tips and Suggestions:

  • Ensure your details are up to date with City of Port Phillip waitlist.
  • Be flexible - take any day offered then pick up more/change when available (internal families/children will be given first option).
  • Sibling preference is given to existing families before days are offered to those on the waitlist.

Upon being offered a place, families will be given 24 hours to accept this position and are required to pay a $500 deposit. We are only able to hold places for a maximum of two weeks after the deposit has been paid. During this time families will need to visit the centre and pick up an enrolment pack which is to be completed and returned upon commencement of orientation.

The enrolment pack contains information about the centre, the learning outcomes and programs that take place at BWFCC. The enrolment form is a legal document, from which  your personal details will be entered into our database. These details include emergency contacts for your child should we need to contact someone in the event of an emergency, and the parents are not contactable.

Parents that meet the criteria for Government rebates will be required to provide their CRN (Centrelink - Customer Reference Number) and date of birth for the primary caregiver, as well as the child's CRN and date of birth. To be eligible for the CCS (Child Care Subsidy) you will need to submit a claim for through MyGov.gov.au. You are able to submit your claim prior to being offered a place. For a detailed description of How To Claim CCS click on the link!

The orientation process will vary slightly depending on the approach of your child’s room leader, and the needs of your child. The introductory step is usually a one hour session where the educators get to know you and your child. For the second step in the orientation process, your child will stay in the room by themselves for around one hour, while parents wait in reception.  How many of these stay and play orientations are required will depend upon the individual child’s needs. The orientation process will take place in the week leading up to the child's start date.
